7 FEB 98 - my days seem to linger like I'm trapped in a never-ending daydream.
I have been deployed over six months now with the Thirteenth Marine Expeditionary
Unit. But on the bright side we our headed home. YES! I miss everyone so much and
I just can't wait to get home. Life gets a little stressful after six months of
constant work. I work around 16-18 hour days, seven days a week! But, they did give
me Christmas off. Bastards!
We just left Darwin, Australia about two days ago. Darwin was nothing like I
expected it to be. It was a decent size city, but it had a real prevalent sleepy/small
town type of atmosphere. Almost everything was closed on Sunday. And after searching
the entire city for something to do, I found myself at the MGM Grand Casino, Darwin;
but don't worry; I only lost 10 bucks.
Right now I'm floating around in the Pacific Ocean around 700 miles away from Guam.
(Guam is a beautiful place, and I would highly recommend that you go there.) We will
stop in Guam for a couple days, then head back home to Cali, with a brief stop at Hawaii.
Only 20 days left of this deployment and I'm counting every second.
